Des nazis en masse
Pour comprendre l’essor du nazisme, le travail de Marie-Bénédicte Vincent est important, elle propose une histoire sociale du Parti national-socialiste des travailleurs d’Allemagne. Il ne s’agit pas d’une histoire du nazisme, mais d’une analyse sociale de ses membres et de fonctions sociales qu’ils peuvent remplir au sein de l’appareil. Elle montre comment il se structure en plusieurs temps. D’abord une première fois entre 1919 et 1923 de manière groupusculaire. Les réunions publiques sont alors assurées principalement par Hitler qui organise la structure du parti en deux sphères les adhérents et les partisans. Le premier cercle est composé de jeunes hommes, anciens combattants et membres de corps francs qui après la tentative de coup d’État de Munich, renoncent à la prise de pouvoir par la force pour tenter de le prendre par les urnes en s’appuyant sur un parti nombreux et organisé. Le NSDAP se structure alors en parti de masse, organisé à l’échelle régionale tenant une comptabilité rigoureuse dans laquelle les cotisations servent à la fois à organiser les activités locales et à financer le parti à l’échelle nationale. Comme on peut l’imaginer, le parti est extrêmement hiérarchisé et vertical. Ses responsables locaux ayant un lien direct avec Hitler. A l’échelon local la même verticalité existe, avec une structure assignant à chaque une fonction soit directement dans le Parti soit légèrement à la marge comme les Sections d’assaut dont les membres sont indirectement reliés à la direction. Comme, il est possible de l’imaginer, le Parti est masculin et masculiniste, moins de 10 % de femmes en sont membres. Après 1933, les adhésions affluent, les effectifs sont multipliés par 3 en quelques mois. Près de 5 % des Allemands sont membres du Parti qui souhaite contrôler l’ensemble de la société par le contrôle idéologique sur la société et le contrôle par l’État, avant que le parti ne devienne sa structure rassemblant plus de 20 % de la population et participant de la mobilisation complète de la société. Les cadres et les adhérents participant pleinement du système, le contrôlant et répondant aux demandes de la direction et au système criminel instauré.
