Mémoires des camps
Deux ouvrages centraux sur l’univers concentrationnaires sont aujourd’hui réédités
D’abord Maria Foldès née en 1925 décédée en 1976 a été une figure importante de la littérature roumano-hongroise. Née en Roumanie, elle subit les lois antisémites consécutives de l’annexion de la Transylvanie par la Hongrie fasciste de l’Amiral Horthy. Elle peut néanmoins poursuivre ses études jusqu’à sa déportation par les nazis en 1944. À son retour des camps, elle se lance dans la littérature et l’écriture de pièces de théâtre qui expriment la souffrance de la déportation. La promenade en est l’une des expressions les plus abouties sur la difficulté de survivre. Maria Földes y évoque sa vie quotidienne dans la Roumanie communiste des lendemains de la guerre. Un pays triste sombre marqué par la grisaille du quotidien. Une file d’attente dans un magasin fait ressurgir le souvenir des appels dans le camp. Une pièce de monnaie évoque la survie dans le ghetto. La musique les souvenirs de l’invasion. Un témoignage qui semble expliquer que l’on ne sort jamais des camps.
Hans Chaïm Mayer devenu pour l’écriture Jean Amery a également publié plusieurs textes majeurs sur le système concentrationnaire et la mémoire des crimes. Né en 1912 à Vienne, il s’installe en Belgique après l’Anschluss en 1938. En 1940, il rejoint la résistance et est arrêté et déporté en 1943. À son retour, il publie plusieurs ouvrages majeurs comme Les Naufragés et Lefeu ou la Démolition qui vient d’être réédité. Le héros est peintre. Son immeuble doit être détruit. Lefeu refuse son expulsion comme un nouvel acte de résistance. Mais, il replonge dans les tourments du passé, tout en refusant sa condition recourant à la littérature et à la déambulation pour se défendre.
Comme Primo Levi, tous deux ont mis fin à leur jour, malgré la liberté retrouvée ils semblent être restés prisonniers de l’univers concentrationnaire.
