La poésie comme résistance…
Dans la tradition littéraire d’Europe de l’Est, la poésie est souvent posée comme un acte de résistance. Un bel exemple par la qualité des textes et des poèmes proposés est donné par le recueil des œuvres de Vasyl Stus, poète ukrainien mort au goulag en 1989.
Né le 6 janvier 1938 dans l’Est de l’Ukraine. Ses parents s’installent à Donetsk (appelé au temps du communisme Stalino) dans le Dombass pour échapper à la répression. Stus commence des études de littérature à l’Université de la ville avant de pouvoir entreprendre une thèse à Kyev (Kiev). Dès cette période, il rejoint les cercles dissidents participants aux manifestations dénonçant les arrestations massives. Ces actes ont mis un terme à sa carrière universitaire. Devenu ouvrier, Stuv a continué à faire de la poésie et frime de lèse communisme à faire passer ses poèmes à l’étranger. Comme de plusieurs autres dissidents il est arrêté en 1972 et condamné à cinq ans de travaux forcés. L’ensemble de ses écrits sont alors confisqués par le KGB. Stuv s’est alors défini comme captif à jamais dans un poème écrit en prison. Libéré, il retourne dans la capitale ukrainienne où il est de nouveau arrêté à la veille des Jeux olympiques de Moscou de 1980. Il est condamné à 10 ans de prison où il meurt. Ces textes retrouvés sont aujourd’hui publiés. Ils comportent des poèmes et des lettres à ses proches. Ils sont une admirable évocation du passé de la grande famine qui a frappé l’Ukraine entre 1932 et 1933, sont souvent des appels à la résistance contre l’oppression, des hommages à ceux qui ont disparu dans les camps comme un éternel éloge de la Résistance.
